Director-Elect, Area B – Shawnigan Lake
Now that I'm elected, I will be in a number of training sessions over the next couple of months, working with CVRD staff and Electoral Area Directors to learn the fundamentals and begin the process of implementing change. After that, I'll begin regular town hall meetings, approximately once a month, and give updates, which may be done through more videos on my YouTube channel.

Between the preliminary count on election night and the official results on October 19, the total votes for Area B rose from 1,424 to 2,269, and my own total rose from 751 to 1,201. The CVRD has stated that a routine check of the manual count against the machine-read tapes found additional Area B ballots that were not part of the preliminary count.
Many residents have asked what happened. I'm looking into it, and I'll post an update here as soon as I'm informed.

Voters in Area A, a portion of Area B, and Area C were asked whether to create the South Cowichan Issues Assessment Studies Service, a dedicated fund to study local issues. The answer was no, and the bylaw was not approved: 3,313 voted No (68.3%) and 1,535 voted Yes (31.7%), out of 4,848 votes cast. At the Shawnigan Lake Community Centre, the vote was 933 No and 514 Yes.
